First Day of School 2008

Conor Eliot, age 10, headed off to 5th grade at Kennedy Middle School. After this picture was taken, Conor went and stood on the sidewalk, and we waited for the bus to arrive (Adam and I hiding in the house so as not to embarrass anyone). We saw it go up the street past us (as scheduled per the bus route posted online), waited for it to return, then watched as it sailed past Conor without even slowing down. Adam dropped Conor off at school today and called the school to complain, and we're hoping that the way back will go more smoothly.

Another picture taken pre-school bus betrayal.

Eamon Eliot, age 7, headed to 2nd grade at Memorial School. His arrival at school went much more smoothly as it's our familiar routine and involves being walked to the door by Mom and Dad (usually just Dad, but I'm off on Wednesdays, so we all went together, with Desmond along for the ride in the stroller).

Conor's 10th Birthday, August 14, 2008

Here's Conor looking extremely grown up and handsome, as well as glowingly happy, in front of the cake he and Eamon and Adam made today. Sadly, a few moments after this, he managed to cut his finger for the third time on the Swiss Army knife he got for a birthday present.

Desmond, with lips pursed either in song or as if to start blowing out the candles, Eamon, and Conor, while the "Happy Birthday" song is sung

I'm going to ignore the fact that I'm having a bad hair day and that Desmond is squirming to get away here (he's focused on getting a piece of the cake, actually), and go ahead and post this rare picture of me with all three boys.

Hanging out in Manhattan

Eamon, with his new cowboy hat from the "Horse" exhibit at the Museum of Natural History, hanging out with Desmond at a playground in Central Park. You can just make out the three non-nanny adults (aside from me and Adam) on the playground.

Eamon, feeling either grumpy or shy of the camera (most likely the former, as he is almost never the latter), Adam, and Desmond in front of the Museum of Natural History. (It's actually called the American Museum of Natural History, apparently for the express purpose of making it hard to find in the guide books).

Two versions of Eamon, Conor, and Adam waiting to take a Circle Line boat ride around to see the "Waterfalls." Adam is wearing his snazzy new hat, purchased that day from a vendor on Fulton street near the subway station.

On the Subway in NYC

Desmond, Eamon, and Conor on the subway, looking like they're posing for an album cover. Or maybe just the liner notes.

Eamon is now just looking tired and grumpy, but cute as usual.

At our camp in Skowhegan in late July

Here's Desmond down by the lake

This is a shot of the trail back up to the camp from the water

At the camp in July

Here's Desmond with his raincoat on and his special, just-for-the-camera, saccharine smile outside the camp; there was condensation on the camera lens, sadly.

Eamon, wearing his Indiana Jones t-shirt, with Conor, who is trying to get squirmy Desmond on his lap.
