A Visit from the cousins on the occasion of Adam's birthday

The cake is nearly covered by only about half the number of candles that would actually indicated Adam's age. Conor, cousin Sam, and cousin Edie are watching in the background.

Desmond is looking very interested in the cake.

Here are Sam, Edie, Conor with his eyes closed, and Eamon, eagerly awaiting their chocolate cake.

A Trip to the Zoo

Here are Desmond, Eamon and their cousin Sam at the zoo in the jeep you can play in and pretend you're on safari or something while looking at the lions.
Here's Edie going down the very popular twisty slide at the zoo.
Here's Eamon, Desmond, Edie, Sam, and Conor posing as animals at the zoo.
And a somber-looking Edie at lunch at an Irish pub in downtown Boston.

Desmond, Eamon, and Conor dying Easter eggs at our kitchen counter.
More egg dyeing fun. Eamon and Conor are great egg artistes, and Desmond has a lot of enthusiasm for the task. He liked drawing on the eggs with the wax crayon; he loves drawing with crayons these days in general. Of course, he also really wanted to stick his fingers in the dye.
Adam, Desmond, Eamon, and Conor waiting for their eggs to steep in the dye for a while.

Easter Pictures at the Church

Desmond, Conor, and Eamon
Conor, Desmond, Eamon. It is impossible to get a shot of all three of these guys looking at the camera at the same time and not, either accidentally or on purpose, making a silly face.
Here's one more attempt.
And here are Conor, Desmond, and Eamon with their mom in her Easter bonnet.

The Eliot Church Easter Egg Hunt, March 23, 2008

Here is Eamon in the middle of his 3rd egg hunt in two days, all dressed up and not managing to find as many goody-filled eggs as he would like to. This hunt was after church on the ground of the Bacon Free Library across the street.
Conor helped Desmond find two or three eggs that were hidden in that planter behind them; some of these eggs were pretty hard to find because the were covered in an army khaki camouflage print that actually blended in pretty well with the dead grass and plants.
Desmond is still looking around for eggs to put in his little bag.

For Easter, Conor and Eamon are kind enough to indulge their mother by wearing dress-up clothes. Desmond wears whatever I put on him, generally without complaint, though it's dificult to get him to stand still for more than a second for a picture.

Desmond's Bedtime Menagerie

This is Desmond at bedtime checking out some of the many stickers he was given by the nurse at the doctor's office after having his finger pricked during his checkup that day; the nurse told Desmond she was going to get some "Elmo juice" (because it's red-get it?) out of his finger, which I found cloying and unnecessary. Anyway, next to him are all the usual suspects that he demands at bedtime.
To Desmond's left, you'll find Curious George, Poppy Bear (maybe he means Papa Bear, but that's how it sounds), Thomas the Tank Engine, Bunny (formerly named Mr. Bubbles by Eamon when Desmond was an infant), train book, pillow, and two blankets under which he must be tucked in before going to sleep.
Here he is early in the morning just before his rude awakening by me at 6:15 am for the morning commute.
And immediately after being woken up. He's a good trooper in the morning.

Blurry Pictures from Desmond's 2nd Birthday, February 28, 2008

Conor, Desmond, and Eamon with Desmond's birthday cake. This looked like a really cute and perfect picture on the viewscreen on the digital camera. Alas.
